I have heard it said that there are some people who think that dogs have no souls.  I tend to think that there must be many people who think the same otherwise there wouldn’t be the cruelty and abuse towards these faithful and loyal animals.  Have you ever thought about what sort of role the dog plays within our society apart from being devoted companions, giving total and unconditional love?

They are used for blind people and for deaf people; they are used to search for and rescue people throughout the world – earth quakes, snow avalanches to name but two; they are used to search out drugs and to search out criminals; they are used as Security to protect business premises and for protecting military installations and vital points throughout the world; they were used in both World War I and World War II; they have been used in all major conflicts such as the Korean War, Vietnam, Bosnia, Kosovo, Northern Ireland and in more recent times Iraq and Afghanistan.

I wish to thank Dave Machin from the K9 unit of the NYPD for giving me his “utmost permission” to use his wonderful tribute to all their dogs that have been used for conflicts over the years. Bless every single one of them.
